Research Project Start-Up Checklist
- Find an idea you are PASSIONATE about.
- Review available literature on your topic to develop a clear question that you are trying to answer. Medical library is available to assist with the literature review.
- Determine if your idea is even considered research. Does it meet one of the following criteria:
- Quality improvement
- Case Report Study/Series
- Non-Human Subjects
- Expanded Access (Drug or Device) Standard Work or Contact CRP.
- Upon determining that your project qualifies as Human Research, present your topic to other providers within your department to determine acceptability and ability to implement your idea.
- Identify a Principal Investigator (PI) willing to mentor you through the research process.
- Read and understand your responsibilities as an investigator.
- Complete Research Ethics and GCP training.
- If you are new to research, use this set of instructions.
- If you’ve completed CITI Ethics and GCP training elsewhere, use this set of instructions to re-affiliate with BRI/VM.
